Re: 12v Battery monitoring

I just use a USB charging adapter in the 12 v socket in the console. It has an LED readout of the voltage from the 12v battery:

Re: Goodbye e-Golf, Hello id.3 - The end of the line for the e-Golf

Yes, our cars are now orphans. Time to start pestering VW to improve the software in the e-Golf. Things I'd like to see VW roll out: Apple CarPlay EV Routing, digital SoC indication in the infotainment system / dashboard, software update to the car so it self identifies as an EV (I am a bit tired o...

Goodbye e-Golf, Hello id.3 - The end of the line for the e-Golf

The last e-Golf has rolled off the production line at the Dresden factory, which will now be dedicated entirely to making the id.3. So this marks officially the end of the e-Golf product line.

Re: Can you do remote start with CarNet App?

You can't "start" the car remotely. The only things you can do remotely are start/stop climate control and window defrosting, lock/unlock doors, and begin/end charging. If the key fob's battery dies, there's a tiny little slot underneath the left side of the door handle that you use to pry open a co...

Re: What’s a “good” miles/kWh?

I just don't see how it would be possible to average above 6 miles/kWh over the long term, unless maybe you're always driving downhill. Over 7 seems impossible in any sort of normal driving situation. Maybe you mean kilometers/kWh? The best I've ever done for a single driving session was 6.3 miles/k...

Re: charging port cover

I have one of these, too, that I use in New England winters when snow, sleet, or ice is in the forecast. Keeps the charging port from filling up with ice and snow. Very handy and highly recommended for anyone who regularly charges outside in cold weather.

The theoretical max DCFC rate of the e-Golf is not 50 kW.
I don't know if it's correct, but the specs given at this link say that the max DC charging rate is 50kW:

Re: charging limitations

Thank you for your detailed answers! If I understand right, you say that I could theoretically plug my car straight to the grid (I'm living in Switzerland where we have 240V AC singe and 400V AC tripple phase) and pull up to 40 A from the single phase, which would amount to the 7.2 kW I noticed ? O...

Re: charging limitations

Impressive! What was the state of charge, amps and volts delivered? How long did 42 kW last? For the few occasions I haves used DCFC, I took a walk and so wasn’t watching the entire time, but never saw above 39 kW when I was actively following the session. Initial SoC was at 34% and power delivered...

the car can accept up to about 39 kW for DC Fast charging.
Last weekend on an Electrify America DC fast charger, my 2018 e-Golf was pulling 42kW for awhile, according to the Electrify America app. That's the highest I've ever seen on a DCFC.
