Re: Third Party App ("Charge App") as alternative to Car-Net for remote/scheduled charging

My car-net access lapsed after three years of free service. I will not pay to continue the service.

Re: home charge stations

It will work, but not the safest way to get the power to your car, due to the exposed nature of the extension cable. Ideally, you should have a solution that is permanent since you are going to be charging your car daily if not weekly and the extension cord is really a temporary solution, but I unde...

Re: AC pressure sensor failure

Interesting. I wonder if the heat is being only provided by the PTC as I suspect that pressure sensor is required for the heat pump to work whether in a cooling cycle or heating cycle. I hope it is easy to replace.

Re: AC pressure sensor failure

Have not heard of this before. Does your car heating and A/C work? If not, what error do you see on the dashboard?

Re: home charge stations

A 50 amp circuit is a good idea. It looks like the Audi EVSE has a NEMA 6-50 plug, so you'll need a NEMA 6-50 receptacle installed. Be sure a four conductor wire (two hots, neutral and ground) is used, even though the NEMA 6-50 does not use the neutral wire , as you may need to switch out the NEMA 6...

Re: home charge stations

If your car has DCFC, then it can take 30 amps at 240 volts (7.2 kW), so a higher amperage station will not improve charging speed. The charger is on board the car. The thing on the wall, the EVSE, will supply what the car requests, up to the EVSE’s maximum output. If you think you may some day have...

Re: home charge stations

It looks like that Audi station will work just fine but I see “3.6 kW” printed on the EVSE, so I suspect that is the max charge speed. If your 2016 has DCFC capability then it can accept up to 7.2 kW, so the Audi station is 1/2 as fast as you might be able to achieve. I have a Clipper Creek HCS-40 P...

Re: Charging time display turns off while charging now

It sounds like normal operation. It never stays on for me while charging if the car is off. If the car is on, then it stays. It could be you initially left the car on while charging.

Re: new ev owner

Spektre did a good job answering your questions, but I'll add my 2 cents, too. 1. I like all the driving options. I typically use B around town (~35 mph or less) and D1 on the highway (no traffic) or D2 with traffic that still moves but may slow down occasionally. I almost never use D or D3, though ...

Re: eGolf wheel & tire recommendations

I think you’ll find a post about this on the forum. Yes, you will lose range - my guess is about 5 to 10% less - but improve handling. If you want better handling I bet putting summer perf. Tires on the stock rims would make a huge difference and not lose as much range.
