Telsa Announces Wireless Charging for Model S

I want this so bad

You have a strange way of reading and summarizing news.

#1. Tesla only discontinued the 60kWh version of the X that was just a software limited 75kWh car. They did deliver some, they just stopped taking orders for it, for some unknown reason.

#2. The wireless charging system is an aftermarket product made by Evatran, marketed as Plugless Power. The system is also available for the Volt and the Leaf.

My experience with external charging would lead me to not purchase such a device for my EV. That is, when I was charing my phone wirelessly it used to get really hot so I don't think that would be something I'd want to be doing to my EV's battery.

Wireless power transmission has its own efficiency losses on top of the losses charging an EV battery. Why do I want to pay for more electricity to charge my car in exchange for 30 seconds of my time plugging and un-plugging? IMHO, it's only compelling for autonomous vehicles that would be able to pull into a special parking space to charge between picking up passengers.

Looks like they got a real bad rating on the Model X
