Thx VW

Ooops, sorry, I must have deleted the file by accident. Anyway, it was a Red Chevy Bolt with a black plate that said "THX VW". I'm sure thanks to buy-back, the owner got the Bolt for practically nothing.

Yeah, but I got my 2015 passat TDI SEL with 25k on it and a brand new 2015 e-Golf SEL, for about what I got in trade for my 2014 Passat TDI SEL with 47k miles on it. Twofer! And both of them have nicer materials than a Bolt.

220 miles estimate range to start, then $2k to 240, $5k for 264, and $8k for 325. All these bumps come with moderate interior upgrade packages as well, but still gotta fork out a separate $1k for white interior. There's also 4WD and Performance drivetrains at additional cost and lower range for the money. And of course AutoPilot packages at an additional $3k $5k, or $8k. Bottom line is a nicely equipt one still comes out to a $50k sales price. It's really the access to Tesla's SuperChargers that you're paying the premium for.

Interesting how they're offering 4 range levels. Is a 44 mile upgrade worth $5k? Probably not, seeing how most of us rarely drive over 200 miles in a day. But throw in power seats, speakers, and a few other goodies and now it's a more tempting package. I suspect Tesla is bundling them this way because the batteries are still quite expensive, and they need to lure consumers in to buying more expensive models to improve margins.

That's not so much an issue for me, as I consider it a "premium" upgrade. What I do object to is having to pay $1500 for any color other than black.

Henry Ford had a reason for painting Model T's in black...it dried the fastest. This is just a money grab.

I pretend-configured a Model 3 and for that same $1500 I'd rather go with the upgraded wheel package. That, in the black body color, actually looks good IMHO. Black with the ugly aero hubcaps looks terrible, even worse than the blue (my favorite of the colors) with the ugly aero hubcaps.

White paint is $2k. Gray or Blue is $1500 and Red is $2500.

It's ironic, they've perfectly copied Apple's business model of merging technology with style/fashion, yet the stock was down because investors feel the "price drop" means the Model 3 won't be the next iPhone.

It's white pearl. 3 stage paint, I think. White, pearl coat, then clear coat, for added "depth" I'm buying transportation, not a painting or a tatoo that's art work.

You can remove the wheel cover. The wheels underneath don't look bad at all. Here's a pic with the covers removed, lug covers and center cap added:

Wow, those look way better without the covers.
