I'm planning on purchasing a used 2016 eGolf and planning ahead on what I'll need in my garage to charge it. Is the charger that will come with it just 120v? And if I want a 240v option I would need to purchase a different charger? Or is only the 7.2 capable of being charged with 240v and the 3.6 can ONLY be charged with 120v? What do I need to know about 32amp vs 40amp charger options?

The 7.2 kWh onboard charger, if your 2016 has that, would probably cause you to want a 240V 50 amp dedicated circuit installed where you live, with a NEMA 14-50 electrical plug in outlet, like those used at RV parks. This would also future proof you moving forward if an electric car you bought in the future can has a up to a 40 amp charge controller on board, which is the limit, 80% useable of a 50 amp circuit with 50 amp circuit breaker.
