I experienced this noise when shifting into park soon after I got the car. It may have been habit with my previous manual golf of not depressing and holding the brake to park the car, but I found firmly holding the brake while shifting into park has eliminated the thunk noise for me.
Car is at the dealership today, and they called to tell me that they took pictures to send to head office for direction. They came back saying to order a new head light housing under warranty. The dealership said the part should be recieved in the next couple days.
Time to get yours looked at...
Bought these 16" RTX black widow rims to fit the OEM tires, and the OEM rims have winter tires mounted for a nice balance of safety in the winter and sporty in the summer.
The only thing left to install are the splash guards.

I just noticed the same thing when I was washing the car the other day. Seems like it might be a stress crack, as you can't feel the cracks from the outside of the lens. I have an appointment with VW next week and will advise them about the issue. Better to have it looked at before it gets...
I highly doubt that Volkswagen is going to void my warranty because I put snow tires with a higher rolling resistance compared to the OEM's. They can hook the car up to whatever machine thay want, but the fact is I live in a climate with a lot of snow and cold temperatures, all adding to the...
All of the green initiatives that the liberals implemented will be squashed with the cancellation of the cap and trade by Premier Ford.
I didn't know this until I read the article linked below, that the electric vehicle incentives and other green programs were funded by the provinces biggest...
From time to time, I'll try and out-do my last "think blue" score for an entire charge cycle. For some reason my last score achieved must have encountered a glitch, as my distance traveled/km remaining would be unattainable under normal circumstance, but I'll take it as I'm just an EV driving...
We'll I know when the Ontario government made changes to the electric vehicle incentive program last year, they made it around the fiscal year change in March. Even though the announcement was made in March, it was retro active to the beginning of 2017. The federal announcement should be very...
Yes your right, the wired front windshield is not new, and didn't work very well; but what I don't get is why we didn't get the windshield currently offerd to golf owners in Europe.

The ambient temperature was definitely lower than -10 celcius, maybe I'm expecting too much from the wired windshield defroster. I might try it at multiple temperatures to see if it works at all. I don't really like the idea of parking it outside of the garage though.
With the recent cold temperatures in Ontario lately, I've had a chance to try the front windshield defroster option in the menu. I only had about 3-4 inches of frost at the bottom of my windshield, but it never melted after about 15 minute (I reset it halfway through the 8 minute defroster...
I just put 16" snow tires on the stock rims. I figure things will balance out with having traction/lowered efficiency with the snows, but aerodynamic/no slush build up with the rims. In the summer I'm thinking of having my 16" tdi rims painted black and mounted with stock/better all season...
