"Dramatic" reduction in cold weather range. Why?

Your options are to use the app (if it still works in your market, dead in US now) to remotely turn on heating 15 mins before departure whilst it’s plugged in and suck up the negligible cost of a couple of kWh at whatever price, or live with the reduced range.

"Dramatic" reduction in cold weather range. Why?

PTC heater is rated at 7kW. So it can pull up to that much depending on demand. So if you’re not preheating whilst plugged in, all that power to warm the cabin comes from the battery, which will have a dramatic effect on the consumption number and consequent range in very cold weather.

Looks good, but you’ve killed your range by adding the roof rack, window deflectors and the bigger wheels. Those additions absolutely destroy the aerodynamics and rolling resistance, and in turn range.

Are Crossclimate 2 tyres BEST ?

I have cross climate 2’s on mine also. No noticeable range degradation, but a far superior riding and handling tire over the factory Ecopias. They’re great in the snow too. Chicago here, so plenty of first hand experience with that.

    Snow Tire/Wheel Questions

I’ve got Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires on mine on the factory rims. An all season tire, but crucially 3PMSF rated so actually a legit winter tire. So far been very impressed in the Chicago snow, and they’ve been great through the summer and in the rain too. So much better than the horrid...

    eGolf wheel & tire recommendations

Could be, although I changed the tires mid July so well into summer and after months of warmer ambient temps. The consumption number jumped within a week of the tire change. So I think it’s reasonable to say that weather/temp factors aren’t the main driver here.

I put wheel spacers on my e-golf. 12mm front, 15mm rear to get them flush with the bodywork. Stance is way better and gets rid of the sucked-in tippy toes look. As the wheels now properly fill the fenders, it also makes the wheels appear bigger. It now looks more like the image of the car in...

    eGolf wheel & tire recommendations

Update since my last post above. After installing Michelin CrossClimate+ on the front axle, the average miles per kWh has jumped up a whole mile! From a long term average of 2.7 to now 3.7. I’m baffled as to why, but it has. Nothing else has changed apart from the front tires, so it must be...

    eGolf wheel & tire recommendations

tl;dr version: Michelin CrossClimate+ on the front, Ecopia’s on the rear. Much better performance all around, no noticeable efficiency hit. Hey, newbie to the forum here, and here’s my input on this important topic. My 2016 SE had the original Ecopia’s on it, and the fronts were fairly worn...
