    2017 Volkswagen e-Golf: first drive

I would love the charger port to move to the front or front side panels. Cashes can occur on any part of the car so I'm not going to worry about that. I am just so sick of backing in to chargers - including my own driveway! - which other ev cars drive right into. Stupid design - they just...

    e-golf owners in Oregon?

I'm in Hood River with a 2016 eGolf, had it over a year. I make lots of Portland trips (60 miles) and usually charge at Wood Village/Troutdale for the return trip. We've had a ton of snow these last four days, so I'm driving the Subaru, I'm afraid. My girlfriend likes to blast the heat.

    e-Golf w/ Chains - Awesome in Snow & Ice

Let me know how the Mt Hood trip works out. Where will you charge? My eGolf is buried under two feet of snow here in Hood River, while I drive the Subaru around. Mt Hood Meadows is 37 miles and 5,000' elevation gain from home. I'm curious to try the drive (in summer first). I figure I might...

    Best Winter Tires Choices?

Thanks for the info. Those are studded tires? I'm amazed that they didn't reduce your range. I avoid studs here in Oregon as our winter can be a mix on snow-less trips to Portland and snow-packed trips up the valley. So I look for good stud-less snow tires to cover the range of conditions...

    Key Fob Battery Life

I got the message after 11 months and 8,000 miles . . . but I usually leave the key in the car, never occurred to me that might be a problem.

    SE w/ DCFC lease

Looks like good terms - the offer I got up in Portland Oregon (for an SEL) was ridiculous, and I ended up buying outright - not sure how that's going to work out for me in the long run. What happens if you exceed 7,500 miles per year though? And do they actually just look to see if you exceed...

    Preserve battery life

haha so we just trust VW? btw I talked to a diesel owner who is not getting such a great buy out - you have to read all the fine print, he says. Geez.

    Preserve battery life

How do they measure the battery deterioration to determine if the warranty (>70%) degradation) kicks in?

Volkswagen investing $10-mil into US charging infrastructure

Seems like the near future is longer range cars, not more and faster chargers. If the Chevrolet Bolt is coming out this month with a 240 mile range, I can only assume the other manufacturers must be close behind. Furthermore, such a dramatic range increase should elevate EVs from a fringe...

    Design gripes?

    1. PUT THE PLUG IN THE FRONT! Honestly - it is so lame being in the rear; it drives me crazy. In my home driveway I have to do a tricky three-point turn around my housemate's cars to back up to the garage where the charging cable is. And in many public charging stations as well - yesterday...

    Best Winter Tires Choices?

Most of my driving is local and range isn't a problem; I only charge every four days or so, and then always at home - when I'm driving in snow and and ice, that's where I'll be driving. However, I live 60 miles from Portland, and I need all of my range to get there comfortably, even though...

    Best Winter Tires Choices?

I realize there's another thread from last year entitled "Snow Tires" (http://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=659&p=5245&hilit=snow+tires#p5245), but it doesn't seem to get around to discussing my question: good snow tire choices, and the kind of range impact one needs to accept.

    Best Winter Tires Choices?

Today's question: Does anybody have suggestions for good winter tires that won't reduce range any more than necessary? Or even good all-season tires that are better than the stock tires that came with the car? Any experience with the kind of range reduction, if any, I might expect? Starting to...

Towing - Do You need a Flatbed?

Hopefully I'll never run out of juice but just in case I need a tow - does it need to be up on a trailer/flatbed or can it be towed by lifting the front, but rolling the rear wheels on the road? The manual doesn't address this.
