Loud thunk when going from R to P

This happens to me only if I shift into P very quickly after backing in. Like, less than a second between stopping the car and shifting. Try this: back in, brake, wait five seconds, then shift. You shouldn't hear that noise. Alternatively, shift into D after backing in, then P. I'm not sure what...

Does e-manager warm the batteries as well as the cockpit?

I can't seem to find anything specific documented, so I suspect the answer is no. But does e-manager also warm the lithium batteries in addition to the cockpit? It should. When I leave for work at 7:45 in the morning on a freezing cold winter day, I'd like both the cockpit and the batteries to...

    Radio reception - 2017+ Canadian

That's worrisome. HD Radio operates on FM, and that's all I use.

    Level 1 Charge Fail/Fault

Very important. The level 1 charger draws at 12 amps. So even using a toaster on the same circuit would blow a 15 amp breaker.

    Parking brake sound

Is it just me, or is the noise from the parking brake on my 2019 e-Golf the most satisfying sound in existence? It's the kind of sci-fi sound effect every kid would wish for his car to make. I look forward to parking almost as much as driving.

Climate control does not produce any heat when set to Hi

It takes a few minutes to get any noticeable heat, in my experience. But the heater is less efficient than the seat warmer. Use that alone if you can. Separately, as a Canadian I find the idea of running the heater at 73F/23C hilarious. I'm stripping down to shorts and a t-shirt.

Volkswagen E Golf. Do you agree?

As a taxi? Come on. Of course it's doable. An average NYC taxi drives 180 miles in a 12 hour shift. The e-Golf gets 125 miles in cold weather, and more like 175 in warm weather. So halfway through your shift you hit up a DC fast charging station during your a meal break. Charge more often if you...

    2019 issues

Driving since April, absolutely no issues to report. I love this car. Best decision I ever made.

2019 egolf air conditioning delay start

If you leave work at the same time every day like I do, use the e-manager to set a timer to bring the car down to a sane temperature by the time you leave work. By 4:30 my car is down to a delightful 21C. I highly recommend you also use a window shade to keep the direct sun out, otherwise you're...

    New eGolf charger error

I'd take that charger back to the dealer. My car came with a level 1 charger the dealer had never seen before. Seems VW changed suppliers in the middle of their 2019 production run. Mine works, but I like the look of the older one better.

    Ev Home Charger

I have a similar problem, if not the same. Usually I just plug it in and it starts charging. Sometimes when I plug it in, the charging indicator will blink green--just a faint blink every couple of seconds. It is not charging, but the dash indicates that the car is plugged in (white plug icon)...

    New E-Golf Owner in Toledo,OH

With a commute that short, you'll have no problem staying charged up. Sign up with all of the various charging providers, and get their apps as well as PlugShare which you've already explored. PlugShare aggregates all of them, and lets people leave comments so you know about broken chargers in...

Forward collision or proximity warning false alarm

I've had this happen three times now, twice on the same stretch of road. Yesterday the forward collision warning came up on the dash while I was the only car on the road. Other times it has been the side sensor detecting something. It just flashed up for a second, then went away. Is this pretty...

Home Charging - what do I buy?

Before you go ahead with the install, first determine whether you need it. A 110V level 1 charger (which comes with the car) can add 4 miles of range per hour of charging time. That doesn't sound like much. But if you charge up for 8 to 12 hours after work, that's 32 to 48 miles. If your...
