    2016 e-Golf won't charge - shows Red LED

Original 2015 EGolf owner with 70k miles. All of my charging issues, including one as described above, have been successfully resolved by spraying locking pin periodically with silicone spray. You may want to try some lubricant.

    2015 eGolf Battery Life

Into my 9th year of ownership with 62k miles. Vehicle still presents 100 miles of full charge range during summer months. Absolutely no issues with the car. Any comments?

eGolf Energy Consumption over 6 Years

As a brief follow-up, the following are my calculations of fuel cost savings: For the EV at 35906 miles: 9115 KwHr x 0.086 $/KwHr yields $784 For ICE at 35906 mi @ 30mi/Gal and @ $2.70/Gal: 35905/30 x $2.70 yields $3231 Savings: $2447 given assumptions for fuel costs and ICE mileage...

eGolf Energy Consumption over 6 Years

After the 1st year of my 2015 eGolf ownership, I installed a meter to measure the energy consumption. During this 6 year period I drove 35,906 miles and consumed 9,115 KwHr of electricity. 3.94 mi/Kwh is thus the vehicles efficiency including all losses associated with charging and operating...

Recommend a level 1 charger to replace defective Delphi

As a follow-up to f1geeks comments, the EVSE unit I suggested would require a 120V 20A outlet service. This would need AWG 12 wiring with a 20A protection device (CB/fuse).

Recommend a level 1 charger to replace defective Delphi

Suggest that you consider a L1/L2 EVSE unit such as: MEGEAR Level 1-2 EV Charger(100-240V,16A). It is available from Amazon @$199. With this unit you would benefit from a higher charging rate if you connect to a 240V outlet. I have a Siemens L2 unit; thus, no experience with the Megear unit...

    2019 e-golf won’t charge

Since the dealer took action initially and replaced your port, I must accept that the dealer did replicate your charging issue. So, what I am going to offer below may not be relevant. I have a 2015 egolf which I have owned since new. I have had occasional charging issues, mainly a locked...

    keep the forum going!

You are right about not changing things. The car and its range are very adequate for my local needs. Its realistic stress free range is between 60 and 80 miles year-round. I typically keep vehicles for 10 years or more. Will do so with my eGolf. Cheers,

    keep the forum going!

I have a 2015 eGolf with 51K miles and all level 2 charging at home. Normally I do not charge to 100%; but, this morning I noticed that I did so overnight. The dash readout at start-up was 4.8m/kwh and a range of 85 miles. This reading was with a garage temperature of roughly 50degF. These...

unable to start remove charging plug. Works after a minute.

I have had occasional plug removal issues on my 2015 SEL model. I periodically spray the locking pin in the charging socket of the vehicle with silicon spray lubricant. I direct the spray at the locking pin with the charging plug engaged. Others on this forum have used this technique.

2015 egolf SEL - Won't charge, No green light.

The locking pin is in the charging port directly above the charging socket. If you needed to unlock the car to remove the charging plug, then the pin was engaging properly. So, my comment suggesting a 12v charger fix is not relevant. It is hard to understand how a charging harness fails other...

2015 egolf SEL - Won't charge, No green light.

I will offer my late observation for your charging problem given charging issues that I have had with my 2015 eGolf SEL. From your description I judge that your power plug locking pin does not engage and thus no charge cycle begins. I have had locking/unlocking issues, mainly unlocking, over...

    12V Battery Replacement Questions

I successfully replaced the original JCB 58ah AGM battery with a Duracell 60ah unit. I maintained voltage on the system with a third 12V battery and cables. After the exchange there were no codes indicating that the vehicle detected the change. Lastly, I used the OBDEleven dongle to define...

    12V Battery Replacement Questions

To continue with my original post, I should receive the OBD11 Pro dongle today and will post my battery replacement experience by this weekend for anyone interested. Thanks again for the comments.

    12V Battery Replacement Questions

Thank you gentlemen for your comments. I did not realize that VW Golf MK7 ICE models had coding info. Interesting reading for me. Given the negative terminal current shunt, it seems that there is an effort to optimize charging as the battery ages. I will continue my research and again...

    12V Battery Replacement Questions

Spektra, thanks for your response. When replacing your battery, did you maintain 12V battery voltage on the system when swapping batteries? I am really torn on doing this exchange now given no obvious low voltage issues. However, my local VW dealer has little eGolf experience, so this fact is...

    12V Battery Replacement Questions

I am into my sixth year with my 2015 eGolf @44Kmiles and want to replace my 12V Varta AGM battery with a Duracell AGM. They both have the same form factor including the mount holes for the terminal covers. The Varta is a 58Ah unit and the Duracell is 60Ah. I plan to maintain voltage in the...

Charging port locking issues. Won't lock or unlock - FIX and BYPASS

As far as over lubrication, I have the same concern. However, for the locking pin failing to engage and failing to disengage, I will continue with my silicon spray maintenance twice a month since it has helped the disengaging issue and now the engaging issue. As far as my conversation with the...

Charging port locking issues. Won't lock or unlock - FIX and BYPASS

I use an extension tube connected to the spray valve on the silicon can. With the charging plug engaged and with the aid of a flashlight, I am able to lubricate the locking pin. With the plug removed, I spray around the perimeter of the pin when it is retracted into its housing. I plan to...

Charging port locking issues. Won't lock or unlock - FIX and BYPASS

I have been having a charging plug locking issue with my 2015 eGolf with 44000 miles for the past year. The silicon spray maintenance for the locking pin has helped. Two days ago the charging plug would not lock and a solid red fault light registered. I confirmed that the pin did not engage...
