How many days??? Idle without charging!!

Thought I'd post my recent experience with eGolf abandonment. I left my 2019 eGolf for six weeks, sitting in my garage while I was traveling overseas. It was charged to roughly 50%. When I got back it was good to go, as if I'd driven it yesterday. I've been home now for a few weeks, and I...

Crazy to attempt 910 mile road Trip in 2019 eGolf SE ?

I agree with f1geek's comments. I'd also want to be sure I could be fully or mostly charged before going over Siskiyou Pass (and you'll want to pay attention to weather going through there as well, but probably OK in October). I drove from Portland to Seattle (relocated) earlier this year and...

Good To Go Pass (WA State)

Hello - can anyone tell me if the Good To Go windshield sticker (transponder) works on the eGolf heated windshield? If so, where did you place it?

    Daily commute charging question

I don't think you can expect 220 km of range with that commute, especially if running A/C. Driving any distance at 120 km/hr will surely put a quick dent in your range. Achieving 220 km of range with city/suburban driving is safer bet. The owner's manual says that "frequent and consecutive" use...

    e-golf owners in Oregon?

Hello from Portland and congrats on your new eGolf. I spot quite a few of them on the road around here (there's even another guy on my street who has one). But probably only a fraction of owners reading/posting in this forum. This site (and the eGolf forum on Speak EV) are excellent resources.

    Yes, I'll bet you're right.

    Under Hood Tour

Great info. I didn't realize models with heat pump also had resistance heating. I actually thought (3) was the heat pump. Item (7) is also one of the things I'm not sure about. Item (8) is rather hidden, but there is a device of some sort down under there.

    Under Hood Tour

#9 - ah yes, of course. I didn't notice that the washer ports were tucked under the hood. It looked more like an electrical cable to me. I didn't realize the tubing was associated with the heat pump. Assumed it was part of the general cooling system.

    Under Hood Tour

Since many of us aren't driving eGolf so much lately, perhaps we're passing some of our time just looking at it. I occasionally take a look under the hood, just to admire the electric motor's simplicity. We're looking here at a 2019 model, with selected parts numbered. I know what most of these...

Charger will not release from charging port 2019 egolf

Thanks for posting the outcome. That's a really maddening experience. If I were you, I'd still take it to the dealer for them to look at. Not sure what they'll be able to do, but the more awareness, the better. The obvious fear is wondering when it will happen again. I think some have suggested...

    Speed Bump Bottom Out

Obviously impossible for me to know if there was any damage. I'd like to think that VW included some protection for the battery packs. I can tell you from much past experience (including with old low-clearance sports cars) that these events often sound much more damaging than they actually are.

Leary of the passive heating/cooling approach

That makes excellent sense :D The original poster refers to passive cooling and also the Nissan Leaf, which like the eGolf, uses passive battery cooling. Some EVs such as the Chevy Bolt and Teslas use an active battery cooling system (where liquid coolant is circulated to cool the battery...

Leary of the passive heating/cooling approach

I'm a little confused by this thread as there seems to be a conflation of two totally different subjects: 1: Battery cooling - ie, whether or not the eGolf's passive battery cooling system has any drawbacks to battery life/performance 2. Cabin climate control - ie, to what extent using the...

    Inspection Due... 2,500 mi??

I'm getting the "Inspection Due" message, but my car is only approaching 2,500 miles after 4.5 months of ownership. I thought the first service wasn't until 10K miles. Has anyone else had an inspection done at this point? I'm also planning to call the dealer, but was curious to hear about...

    Charging problem

I have the same car and charger and also experienced this when first charging with the JuiceBox. Make sure you're fully plugged-in to the charge port. You should hear a click sound. Once I tried again and got the click, I was charging successfully and no issues since.

    Blind spot indicator on mirror

My guess is that there's not a traditional bulb in there... probably a hard-wired light source, maybe LED. Again, only my guess.

    Lane assist does not work?

When Lane Assist is on, you should see the indicator light up on your instrument cluster (green car icon with dashed lines on either side of it). I experimented with this feature a bit after getting my car, but ended up disabling it as I do mainly urban driving and found it to be rather...

    Why different charging %

I suggest keeping a log of your charging activity and how much range is used on, say, your daily commute or other typical trips. I did this for a couple of weeks after I got my car, and it gave me a good baseline of what I can expect. Enjoy the car.

    Level two charging

A dryer outlet is typically 30A, so that would limit you to a 24 amp charger. But you definitely don't want to have a dryer and car charger on the same circuit (it might even be a code violation - but consult an electrician). If you're like me and you have a gas dryer (and an unused dryer...
