I haven't found any price point on leasing a 2016 SEL Premium.
I'm being quoted, before any negotiation, $0 down and $309/month for 10,000 miles/year.

Adjusted cap cost: $22,500 ($31,500 dealer price - $7500 fed credit - $1500 rebate I'm eligible for, maybe first time VW owner)
Taxes and fees: $1236
Residual: 41%, i.e., $12,915 (I assumed it's on the dealer price, that matches with the $309/month).
Depreciation would then be $9585, plus $1236, divided by 35 gives me $309.
Dealer says this includes GAP insurance, and there are no other fees, in particular the financing fee is included.
Plus I should be able to get the MOR-EV $2500.

This sounds like an okay starting point. How low should I try to go?
Also, with such numbers, any reason to consider buying against leasing?

Those are pretty good numbers. When you take into account the $2,500 refund, you're talking closer to $239/month.

I bought my 2015 SEL from Boston VW in December for $26,500 before federal/state incentives (so basically $16,500). Their website says they have one 2015 SEL left. Bet you could get an great deal on it if you were open to a 2015 model.

I wouldn't buy a 2016 at $20k (after federal/state incentives). With battery tech getting slowly better every year, who knows what you'll be able to get for it in 3 years. I don't think you'll save that much buying over leasing.

My $.02
