Charging Door Won't Stay Closed

I am having the opposite issue with most eGolf Charing Door. It won't stay closed. The door is unlocked and open. When I push it closed it pops back out.

There is a piston type part that is out. When closing door the piston pushed in, but will NOT stay in the closed position.

Any thoughts? Any fixes?

Google "golf mk7 fuel door motor" to see an image of how the flap/piston works and see if yours is worn at the edges. If you do need to replace it, here's how:
