Our 2015 egolf was in an accident about 3 weeks ago, the door was hit and stuck open for 3 days until it was able to be towed. At the body shop the pre-scan showed numerous issues with the 12v battery and then in the post-scan it showed that the car was unable to communicate with the charging module, but they released the car without mentioning this to us.

It is at the dealer now and we are trying to get it fixed and the cost of fixing it attached to the accident. The problem is that the insurance, body shop, and dealer are all saying that the problem is just that the 12v battery went out (coincidentally with the timing of the accident).

Our question is would the door having been open for 3 days have caused the 12v to die?
