I'm in contact with an out of state dealer regarding a 2017 SEL e-Golf. The car comes bundled with the "Pohanka Value Package" - something I told them I almost certainly wasn't interested in, but never the less I asked about what it contained. Anyway, here I am staring dumbfounded at this email:

This is ******* *******, VW Specialist here at Pohanka VW. I have some New numbers for you on the New 2017 VW E-GOLF. If you were to do a 3 yr/ 7,500 mile lease your payment will be $889. There isn't much if any residual value on these 2017 VW E-GOLF's that's why you're payment is high. If you were to finance it you can get 0% for 60 months and you payment would be cheaper at $632, but you lose the $7,500 tax credit. In your previous email you mentioned the Pohanka Value Package Fee, that includes the Pinstripe, Door Edge Guards, Wheel Lock Covers, and First free oil change. Now since it is electric you wouldn't need an oil change but everything else I mentioned has already been added to the vehicle soon as it arrived. I hope I was able to answer all your question. If you have anymore questions for me please feel free to call, text, or email me. Whichever is easest for you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!!

Wow...

This guy won't last long as a salesman. The only redeeming thing there was that he at least understood it doesn't need an oil change.

Wow is right. Guess they are not interested in selling or leasing this car. Why would you lose the Fed tax credit if you financed the car?

Bargain! (Not)

Why would the buyer loose the $7500 tax credit if purchasing?! I thought it was the opposite? (VW Credit gets the tax credit because they are the "owner" and should pass it along to the buyer in the form of lower lease rates.)

Cheaper to buy one in California and have transported back east than that "generous" offer.
