Re: No garage. What do you do with EVSE?

My Siemens is mounted on the outside of my garage. The outlet has a weatherproof metal box around it and I have a padlock on it that means the end of the pigtail can't be pulled out without cutting the cable. Hopefully that's enough of a theft deterrent.

Re: Dc charging questions

That's a pretty extreme opinion expressed just above. You can follow VW's guidelines in the manuals by not doing back to back fast charges. In other words, Fast Charge, then AC charge, then Fast Charge as needed. The main thing is that VW elected to eliminate the liquid cooling system that they had...

Re: Few questions/concerns before deciding on the e-Golf

Thanks everyone on this post for your replies and extremely useful feedback! They helped us make the decision to go for the e-Golf. We leased our silver LE on Sunday! We got it from Oakland VW (Kaj Pedersen was very honest and a pleasure to deal with) for $210/mo (including tax) after $2500 total o...

Re: Few questions/concerns before deciding on the e-Golf

Hi all, This forum is tremendously useful.. has made our decision to go for an EV a lot easier! Still, I have a few questions/concerns about the 2015 e-Golf that I'm hoping to get answered before we lease one.. 1) Delayed charging: I will be absolutely dependent on charging at home, so I need this ...

Re: Going Surfing with the e-Golf

Nice! I sometimes surf at Linda Mar. Take my Subaru though (don't want to mess up the e-Golf with the wetness/sand/etc. Maybe in a couple years when it's interior doesn't feel so new, I'll take the e-Golf out there.

Re: EVGo Quick/DC charging problems on eGolf

I fast charged at EVGo CCS fast charging station at Whole Foods in San Jose, CA with no problems. Don't know if it was an older or newer model. Haven't tried any other fast chargers.

Re: CA sales numbers ?

There are a few in the Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito area where I live. I regularly see a blue one in North Berkeley and a silver one in the Albany area. I have a white one. I think there have only been about 1500 total sold in the U.S. so far (roughly 1200 this year with about another 300 or so, I t...

Re: Siemens VC30GRYU Versicharge install question

My Siemens is mounted outdoors. No problem with the bend of the line. I have a box very similar to the one that miimura posted. I recall looking into getting the hard wired one, and that one was only indoor rated, so I went with one with a plug.

Re: Why EV?

On the buy v lease discussion, most people seem to say you shouldn't buy because the cars will have more range in 3-4 years and your resale will be terrible. But, what if you don't plan on getting a new car in 3 years? What if you've always kept your cars for 10+ years before getting a new one? I'v...
