2015 eGolf Battery Life

Into my 9th year of ownership with 62k miles. Vehicle still presents 100 miles of full charge range during summer months. Absolutely no issues with the car. Any comments?

Re: eGolf Energy Consumption over 6 Years

As a brief follow-up, the following are my calculations of fuel cost savings:

For the EV at 35906 miles: 9115 KwHr x 0.086 $/KwHr yields $784

For ICE at 35906 mi @ 30mi/Gal and @ $2.70/Gal: 35905/30 x $2.70 yields $3231

Savings: $2447 given assumptions for fuel costs and ICE mileage efficiency.

eGolf Energy Consumption over 6 Years

After the 1st year of my 2015 eGolf ownership, I installed a meter to measure the energy consumption. During this 6 year period I drove 35,906 miles and consumed 9,115 KwHr of electricity. 3.94 mi/Kwh is thus the vehicles efficiency including all losses associated with charging and operating the veh...

Re: Recommend a level 1 charger to replace defective Delphi

As a follow-up to f1geeks comments, the EVSE unit I suggested would require a 120V 20A outlet service. This would need AWG 12 wiring with a 20A protection device (CB/fuse).

Re: Recommend a level 1 charger to replace defective Delphi

Suggest that you consider a L1/L2 EVSE unit such as: MEGEAR Level 1-2 EV Charger(100-240V,16A). It is available from Amazon @$199. With this unit you would benefit from a higher charging rate if you connect to a 240V outlet. I have a Siemens L2 unit; thus, no experience with the Megear unit. You can...

Re: 2019 e-golf won’t charge

Since the dealer took action initially and replaced your port, I must accept that the dealer did replicate your charging issue. So, what I am going to offer below may not be relevant. I have a 2015 egolf which I have owned since new. I have had occasional charging issues, mainly a locked charging ha...

Re: keep the forum going!

You are right about not changing things. The car and its range are very adequate for my local needs. Its realistic stress free range is between 60 and 80 miles year-round. I typically keep vehicles for 10 years or more. Will do so with my eGolf.

Cheers,

Re: keep the forum going!

I have a 2015 eGolf with 51K miles and all level 2 charging at home. Normally I do not charge to 100%; but, this morning I noticed that I did so overnight. The dash readout at start-up was 4.8m/kwh and a range of 85 miles. This reading was with a garage temperature of roughly 50degF. These two figur...

Re: unable to start remove charging plug. Works after a minute.

I have had occasional plug removal issues on my 2015 SEL model. I periodically spray the locking pin in the charging socket of the vehicle with silicon spray lubricant. I direct the spray at the locking pin with the charging plug engaged. Others on this forum have used this technique.

Re: 2015 egolf SEL - Won't charge, No green light.

The locking pin is in the charging port directly above the charging socket. If you needed to unlock the car to remove the charging plug, then the pin was engaging properly. So, my comment suggesting a 12v charger fix is not relevant. It is hard to understand how a charging harness fails other than a...
