Re: Battery degradation

Strangely, the larger capacity pack for my car "only" lists for $22k. VW could have saved themselves some money if they gave your car more range.

Re: Unlocking charger port

I didn't design the car, so I'm only guessing here: 1. In Europe, Type 2 is the standard and the cable is owned by the driver. Even when charging is complete, it does not makes sense to unlock the cable because nobody wants their cable stolen. 2. VW got lazy and carried over the EU logic to all mark...

Re: Error: Electrical System. Stop!

I do hope it takes much less than 10 years for OEMs to get equivalent repair times as ICE (2-3 years, I hope). I agree cost and time are way too high. Consumer Reports found Nissan Leaf is the most reliable car you can buy, but of course those oil teat suckers then said it’s not exciting enough to d...

Re: Error: Electrical System. Stop!

Thanks for info. Isn't battery pack warranty 8 years or 100k miles? I think "easy repair" is relative. Dropping the pack doesn't look that easy to me. But I suppose Tesla would replace the entire pack instead of changing modules for Model S or X, but maybe not for Model 3 or Y. Did you use OBDEleven...

Re: Help! My car won't go into reverse (just moves forward)...

I looked over this thread and saw so many times the phrase "this happened to my wife...". Seems to be happening mostly to women. I wonder why? Did your wife see the EPC indicator on the dashboard or the Ready indicator? Can YOU reproduce this? Can you watch what your wife does to have this problem?

Re: e-Golf (2017) drove forward when "R" on gear lever selected

Not heard this before. Park engages a mechanical lock but I believe all other “gears” are electronic. Motor can either spin forwards or backwards depending on current flow.

Re: 2014 e-golf only charging when ignition on

Not seen this error. Maybe an independent EV mechanic can fix it and you can avoid dealer high prices. Maybe get OBDEleven so you can dig into problems more?

Re: A/C Expansion Valve and Cut Off Valve

I looked up the parts. I think you mean "shut off valve". The parts do cost about $240 if you buy them yourself. I'm guessing installing them isn't that hard, either, but the refrigerant will need to be captured prior to breaking any seals, and then once everything is reassembled, refrigerant will h...

Re: spare steel wheel part number

I think the cheapest one is for a compact spare.

I'm not sure about the other ones.

Re: spare steel wheel part number

When you say spare, do you mean you would keep this wheel in the car? Are you ok with it taking up a lot of trunk space? I have the compact spare and it fits just fine under the trunk load floor, but there is only about 1 cm of clearance between the tire and the floor. Why not just get a spare alloy...
