Re: Egolf Battery Warranty

70% of usable capacity. 24.2 kWh is gross, 89% is usable when new, or 21.5 kWh. 15.1 kWh is 70% warranty trigger. Also, if you measured 17.24 kWh from the charge station, that is an inflated value due to charging losses and the actual usable capacityy is less. Best to use driving data to calculate u...

Re: Climate preconditioning stopped working and other oddities

Great to hear it is working! VW software is a weak spot in the ID.4, as well, from what I’ve read. At least the ID.4 will get OTA updates.

Re: Climate preconditioning stopped working and other oddities

I agree this is very strange behavior. I use Carplay with my iPhone and never had the car turn on after I shut it down. You should take a video so if you decide to bring it into the dealer, you have proof, and I believe your car is probably still fully covered by the warranty. As for the preconditio...

Re: Climate preconditioning stopped working and other oddities

I try! Ok. so it seems you have plenty of power (want at least 5 kW to ensure PTC can work). I have noticed that when I use pre-conditioning, the car finished charging about 30 minutes before the departure time, then the EVSE turns off. Depending on how cold it is outside, the EVSE comes on (and the...

Re: Climate preconditioning stopped working and other oddities

What is the power rating of your EVSE (in kW)? Is your e-Golf an SE or a SEL? What time did you set the departure for? What time did you check to see if the car was warm? When you say the the car "turns itself on after I shut down", how do you shut down the car and how do you know the car turned its...

Re: keep the forum going!

Good first technique for pack usable capacity calculation, though you will get a more accurate value if you charge to full (top balance cells) and then drain to ~15% or less (if you feel comfortable). I do not think data from EVSE is reliable, considering unknown charging losses. We’ll see if e-Golf...

Re: Battery degradation

I do not know about other manufacturers, but I suspect the 70% warranty from another manufacturer also refers to usable capacity over time as compared to usable capacity when new. I think VW was conservative in their degradation estimates, so most people probably won't get a warranty replacement. If...

Re: Lots of error - random

I'm glad they offered you a loaner. Ok, so cold snap was probably not the cause. It sounds like the dealer is on the right track - other than the general "electrical system" error, all the other ones are related to ABS and wheel speed, I believe. Maybe they need to replace the wheel sensors for all ...

Re: Lots of error - random

If “everything” has an error, could it be a bad main computer or maybe a bad ground connection of the main computer?

Did the dealer give you a loaner? Do you live somewhere very cold in the winter? Is this an issue that showed up during a cold snap?

Re: Lots of error - random

When you say "so far" do you mean the car is still broken?
