PSA: CAR NET shutdown MY19 and earlier

I just got an email from VW about Car Net going away for MY19 and earlier due AT&T shutting down their 3G network.
Iā€™m guessing early adopters with MY15 are SOL if they want to change charging modes etc, since it was only available on the app, not headunit.

Re: L1 Charger not charging in Cold weather?

You need a Dedicated 15 amp circuit to charge your e-Golf off of at home. That means a new circuit breaker that's 15 amps and new wiring pulled to one sole electrical outlet, to be used exclusively by your e-Golf for recharging, No other ancillary circuits in use on that one breaker. Absolutely NOT...

Re: 40k Service, poor dealership results

out of curiosity, what state are you located in? These sound like issues when I got my first e-Golf in 2015. The dealership was clueless about the car and they only had one tech certified. I scheduled a service and he wasn't working that day :x - i had specifically reminded them that it was the ELEC...

No. The e-golf has neither active battery cooling nor heating. Look under the hood - you will see only orange electrical wires going into the battery pack- there are no coolant lines. If you charge the battery, you will warm it up due to joule heating.
Never thought to sous vide the battery...

Re: Charging Door Won't Open

Had the same thing happen 2 weeks after we extended our leases. Dealer wanted $700 to break the door, change the actuator, and then repaint the door. VW Corp ended up paying for this, so that was nice. But right after they fixed this, the dealer told me how to open it without actually fixing. I los...

Re: 2019 Owners - Please read - Scratching / Chirping Noise When Braking

Chiming in with 'me too' - my eGolf 2019 has 1k miles on it and i can hear the spring-like sound when braking at low speed. Could hear it since buying the car. Although, there's no rhyme and reason to it. It can be heard at low speeds, but... not always! I'm also getting a whine under very light ac...

Re: L1 Charger not charging in Cold weather?

Never had that issue, but I don't get weather as cold as you... , i would try to charge on another charging station.. just to see if its a car issue or cable issue.

Looking to Buy/Lease 2019

I'm in the market for a 2019 e-Golf. Haven't really followed any of the changes since getting my 2015. When looking at the configurator online, the 2019 models have a GTI looking grill inside of the DRL "C" lights but the '18s look more like earlier models. One of the dealers I've been looking at ha...

Re: Expected tire life on an e-Golf

That's pretty awesome! Was there anything specific you did to make your tires last that long? How often did you check the air and rotate the tires? Thanks honestly no... the car is the wife's and she's a pretty conservative driver. Only rotated every 10k (I normally do 5K intervals but got lazy thi...
