Re: Battery charge port cover (door) latch INOP and charging socket locking INOP

Yup, I've tried lubricating the locking pin with silicone spray and using compressed air to clean out the pin, per other threads here with the problem. What happens is that the 1st or 2nd time I plug it in, I hear quiet clicks from the charging port then the light turns steady yellow indicating that...

Re: Battery charge port cover (door) latch INOP and charging socket locking INOP

I can confirm that the 2016 SE without DCFC doesn't have a locking pin, so the handle does not lock while charging. I never had a problem with sparking when removing the handle during L1 or L2 charging. I think the locking pin is just a safety feature when using DCFC. And honestly I'd like to disabl...

Re: Cabin heating problem

Which 2015 trim do you have -- the Limited edition or the SEL? The Limited Edition doesn't have a heat pump. Assuming the 2015 is the same as my 2016 SE and 2019 SE, the heater takes several minutes to warm up. Also per another thread on this forum, the heater doesn't turn on if the outside temperat...

Re: Used 2016 SEL with DAP enough?

Hi Cowboy! Only you can decide if the range is long enough for your needs. If you drive more than 30-35 miles total each day, I'd recommend you get a car with a range larger than 85 miles. I too drove a 2016 SE for three years doing 15-20 miles a day. The 85 mile range was totally fine for me to use...

Re: Using accessories while charging

Mxplut, check that you have this setting is turned on in your car: Car > e-manager > Settings > Climate control using battery power The Car-Net app has climate control settings which allow you to defrost the windows and warm up the car before you get in, so the heater must be able to work while the ...

Nice work!

Did you cut the vinyl by hand or create patterns? I'd think it'd be difficult to get the lines visually straight since the hubcab isn't flat.

Re: Tips for securely slow charging?

Speaking from personal experience, I strongly recommend against leaving the portable charger in the trunk. You may be OK if you do it occasionally with proper precautions, but it's not a good long-term solution. There's nothing built into the car to accommodate this. When I got my 2016 eGolf, I was ...

Re: eGolf wheel & tire recommendations

Update since my last post above. After installing Michelin CrossClimate+ on the front axle, the average miles per kWh has jumped up a whole mile! From a long term average of 2.7 to now 3.7. I’m baffled as to why, but it has. Nothing else has changed apart from the front tires, so it must be the new...

Re: How range varies with driving speed

Take a look at this thread for experimental numbers for the 2015 eGolf: https://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=927 Here's a graph of the data in the thread which shows that the 2015 eGolf is most efficient at about 18mph, energy usage increases fairly linearly, and going 70mph takes ab...

Re: Charger will not release from charging port 2019 egolf

Check this long thread: http://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=839&hilit=charging+port+locked&start=10#p8571 It's likely that the pin locking the charging handle to the car is stuck. First thing to try: push the handle all the way into the car, then push the yellow "immediate charge" bu...
