Re: New 2016 e Golf owner - questions!

Also, the range is greatly dependent on temperature. Even in the mild climate of San Francisco I see about a 20% decrease in range during the winter, plus another 10% decrease if I use the heater instead of the seat warmer. That's likely what you are seeing. Those in more severe climates report as m...

Re: Purchasing an eGolf in Massachusetts

1.) Short term I may need to charge using a 110 volt plug until I get a 220 volt unit installed. Would I have an issues charging overnight using a 110 extension cord? I will need clan-up my garage and have a charger installed which means 1-3 months before that would happen. The manual says not to u...

Re: Leary of the passive heating/cooling approach

I think a good general rule is to buy a car with a range that is 1.5 times your typical long trip. Since you will be making a 70 mile trip 52 weeks a year, I would say that you would be better served by a ~110 mile battery pack so you don't need to worry about range. I'll say it in stronger terms t...

Re: Newer e-Golfs at a loss in Miles/kWh

As a counter-point, as a conservative driver whose daily commute includes lots of hilly city streets and some highway miles (55mph in the right lane), whose long-term efficiency is 4.4 to 4.6 mi/kWh depending on temperature, after two months with the 2019 SE I've found the efficiency to be about the...

Re: 2019 Owners - Please read - Scratching / Chirping Noise When Braking

Yes, I get a similar sound though I would say it sounds like a spring being compressed, or like marbles rolling around. My sound is steady while your recording is more pulsing, but I believe it's the same thing. The sound was the same in my 2016 as in my 2019. I chalk it up to another one of those n...

Re: Leasing a 2019/20 eGolf in San Francisco Bay Area

When the lease was up on my 2016 SE back in January, I found that current lease deals are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago. Instead, I and a bunch of other people ended up buying a 2019 SE. There are incredible discounts on it right now. Check out the other threads on this board: in...

Re: I have done it. Took the plunge with a 2016 e-golf

Welcome Michael! Some but not all answers: 2) The most significant way you can increase range is to slow down and go easy on the accelerator. The user Verkehr found data showing that the 2015 eGolf (very similar to the 2016) is most efficient at 18mph. 60mph takes about 2x more energy, and 80mph tak...

Re: How to remove oily stains on fabric seat cover

I don't have an answer, but I wanted to mention that the stains aren't necessarily oil.

The fabric in my 2016 SE would stain if I merely looked at it funny. Simply dripping water on the seats caused stains that never came out.

My 2019 SE doesn't seem to have the same issue.

Re: Why is the delayed charging button always pre-selected when I'm plugging in my charger?

Hi mreintz — Welcome to the board! Yes, because you have a departure time set, the car will delay the start of charging so that it finishes at your departure time. If you always want to charge immediately, turn off your departure time. You can also turn off your minimum charge level: it should not b...

Re: How to remove A-pillar cover? 2019 eGolf

Check out this video of a guy installing a self-dimming mirror. He removes the A-pillar cover at about 4m16s:
