BTW I think I like the AP2000 better than OBD11... for anyone wondeering what to get. OBD11 wants to charge you more to use more features in it like battery programming. It also has "quick erase" unlike ODBeleven which wants to scan for codes first. Both make you log in to their server...

I would call around to a few other dealers service dept and ask them how much they charge for that repair.. and if it's a lot less, call VW to complain. Keep us updated.
Upon further ownership and reading up, one cause of this is that the locking cyclinder above the charge port doesn't fully retract and the egolf thinks it's still plugged in.
check to see if it's protruding and if it is, push it in with your finger, a key, or screwdriver etc and see if that...
Luckily my problem is that sometimes i have to manually push it in, vs it not coming out.. althrough i think it did happen once or twice but worked again shortly later..

That worked for me once. I keep a screw driver in the rear passenger door pocket for the times

you pull the handle slightly then on the underside of the lock cover you use the key to pry the lock cover off, it comes all the way off, not flip up.. and the handle has to be pulled open slightly so that it has room to come off, otherwise the handle holds it on. then the lock...
