Small Difference in Lower Grille on 2019 - Early versus Late Production Run?

I would be amazed if the impact of the weight of the strakes could even be measured in terms of impact to the range.... Pretty sure the user's manual is heavier than the strakes.... they're plastic. You'd get a bigger range increase from taking the rear tonneau cover out of the car than you...

    high pitch sound from motor?

It's a legally mandated feature, so it would be surprising if it's not present. There's a fault light for it and all. So your vehicle is totally silent around 10mph, no sound from the engine compartment (right wheel well, to be precise) at all? I'm envious.

How Can I Tell how Many Amps I'm Charging At?

If you use an OBD tool like OBDeleven you can get that information from the battery control module. Probably not worth the effort, though.

    charging stopped in the middle?

I have seen it mentioned that the off peak hours function gets very temperamental if the start and end times fall on different days (i.e. start in the PM and end in the AM). I wonder if it would work more reliably if you set it to 00:00 (or 00:30?) to 1600?

Help! My car won't go into reverse (just moves forward)...

EPS From what I understand, the real purpose of this indicator light is not to indicate a power steering system failure, but instead to elicit a response of "WHY ISN'T THE CAR WORKI... oh I need to press the brake..."  I don't notice the READY light so easily, but I have got...

    high pitch sound from motor?

Its the low rumbling, almost groaning sound that the car makes when travelling at low speeds. Open the windows in a quiet underground parking lot or similar and start moving very slowly, as you pick up to 1 or 2 mi/hr you'll hear a rumbling sounds fade in that gets louder as you speed up, but in...

Brake Energy Recuperation aka Regenerative Braking Wears Out Brake Pads?

The e-Golf will use the regex brake when you press the brake pedal in D mode, and will only engage the friction brakes once the braking force requested is stronger than the regen brake can offer (or if there's wheel slip) B mode only has the effect of making the car apply regenerative braking...

Small Difference in Lower Grille on 2019 - Early versus Late Production Run?

Another data point: Mine is a December 2018 build, and DOES have the strakes.

Is there a Battery life indicator on used 2016 e-golf

2017+ has bigger battery, so more range. If the range on the 15 and 16 meets your needs there's no reason not to buy one at the right price.

    Build Thread: Performance e-Golf

Sounds like very cool mods to make the car look and feel sportier. There might be a significant reduction in range from all of the changes, especially the big wheels. If the trade off is worth it then go for it!

Swapping halogen headlight assembly for OEM HID assembly

Agreed with the above post; there are a large number of control modules that aren't present or aren't the same spec level in the SE as in the SEL. It would be super cost-ineffective to retrofit them. If you can live without the adaptive lights, the projector modules linked above would be a great...

    Solar Proof of Concept

If you're trying to DCFC, you will need to connect a charger between the panels and the DCFC inlet. I am unsure how simple it would be to try to fake the charge management and handshaking with an Arduino. You can't just push 400V onto the DC cables. And it would most absolutely destroy the...

    Chargepoint plug too big

Both times I bought an e-Golf the dealer told me it had run flat Ecopias, even though such a tyre doesn't exist. The dealer who sold me the 2019 was convinced that the tyre manual booklet thing that comes with the car stated it. His reasoning was that on the front cover, where it says something...

    Wireless CarPlay via Dongle

I did cancel. I would be interested in hearing your experiences with it if you get it

    EV Efficiency

JT also charges up to nearly 100% every time so it would be expected to see faster degradation.

SF Bay Area: Any Interest In Full Service Spare?

I’d likely be down to chip in for one to replace the curved wheel that came with the 2016

Is there a way to see battery percentage or charge rates?

The SEL doesn’t give you any information about battery charge levels. I don’t know what that video is really showing, but my car with digital cockpit does not do anything like that. The green and blue represent the max amount of regen or power available. I too can only get a percentage charge...

What essential accessories did you buy?

I can not recommend the Weathertech mats and trunk liner highly enough. The fit is perfect, and the big lip on the mats and trunk liner catches everything. I don’t have the rear floor liners (no kids, rarely any rear passengers) but the ones I have were well worth the somewhat steep price.

    Really dumb question about charging

If you set both the minimum AND maximum to 80% it will immediately charge to 80% and stop every time you plug in. That’s how I have mine set. I don’t really use the timer as a timer unless I need to charge to 100 before a long trip. My daily commute is 10mi round trip and I plug in each week...

    2020 e-Golf apparently announced

VW says we aren’t getting the ID3, we are getting the compact SUV instead. Perhaps they will end up selling the ID3 here eventually but I doubt it will be in the next few years
