Disappointing driving experience in 2019 e-Golf SE

I don't know I still think it's really fun to drive - and I trade off between an A3 etron with 18" tires and the e-golf. It's definitely geared towards comfort and simple point a to point b city driving - getting a bit wobbly on the highway in comparison - but it still has a precision and...

2015 VW Golf SEL Lease Expiring in March of 2018

We sucked it up and turned in our 2015 and leased a 2017 SEL. Yes the lease amount went up significantly - from $340 to $400 for us. The extra convenience was more important to us than the money. The 50% increase in battery is much appreciated - even if not necessary for us. Now any trips an...

French Auto website goes 329km in 2017 eGolf

Took the new 2017 on a 90 mile highway drive and used about 2/3 of the battery. Would have been on my last legs on the 2015. Very happy with the range.

2018: Keep, upgrade, swap, or return e-Golf

Lease ended on the 2015 and picked up a 2017 a week ago - the lease did end up being quite a bit more expensive - residual not as good now. Seeing 150 miles range when charged is really a bit of a game changer - the 2015 range was mostly fine - but this just seems to free things up a lot... And...

2018: Keep, upgrade, swap, or return e-Golf

Lease on 2015 finishing next month - like the car but could use the extra range. Lease rates for 2017’s coming in a lot more expensive than previous it seems - like $50 month more than our 2016 audi etron I think - waiting it out and hoping for some end of year incentives.

Charger lock - make it stop

Ok so today's fiasco had an upside - a permanent solution to my year long charger lock problem! Unable to get the charger out of the port at all today - I finally got frustrated and just forced the charger head up and down and side to side - until it made a glorious cracking sound - and charger...

Charger lock - make it stop

And to add insult to injury (as the person who started this topic) a charge fault has left me completely unable to remove the charger from my car!! Car will have to be towed to dealer and a bunch of work done based on what I read from another post. So dumb and unnecessary...

Only 293 US egolfs sold in June

I'm with Ron - the range of a real world 100 miles is just fine for any 2 car household in a major metropolitan area. And yes the e-golf seems to be getting wildly outsold by the i3 in my neck of the woods. I've only seen one other e-golf in 9 months in an area where electric cars are very...

How to Disconnect the e-motor noise

After about 5 months I think I've gotten used to it - at least I've stopped thinking every day "is this sound annoying or not?" You'll get used to it.

    Anyone moved from Nissan LEAF?

I've gone on about this but here goes... No comparison. I can list about 30 annoying things with the Leaf - and about 3 with the e-golf after almost 5 months. Locking charger, service required for an a/c problem which was quickly taken care of, and yeah you can't really see if it's charging but...

    Air conditioning not working

Dealer installed Hvac software update and added refrigerant which was low (no leak was found) - this seems to have solved the problem.

What's most efficient. Drive in D or drive in B?

Forget using the regen - it's just a total buzzkill. The genius of the golf is that you can turn the damn thing off and coast super smoothly - which was impossible in our old leaf. Regen setting sreally don't affect range significantly - I have only found it useful as a kind of downshift on...

Locking charger plug. YA way to loose...

So a double click works? After ten minutes of fumbling around I finally tried unlocking at the door switch and that worked. Again the locking charger as default setting is just going out of your way to irritate drivers.

    Air conditioning not working

Anyone else having problem with the a/c? It's 83 in LA and we're roasting - no chill at all... Back to the dealer.

    Volkswagen Quality Survey

Charging port always locking is totally unnecessary - my only irritant. I always drive in normal.

Charger lock - make it stop

Is there a way to turn off the charger lock? In my 3 years with the leaf I never once needed a lock - now I find myself in my garage fishing around for the unlock button so I can disengage the charger every morning. This is the pretty much my only complaint. The charger should only lock when the...

    Former Vehicles

2011 Nissan Leaf. I'm pretty sure the e-golf is one of the best cars there is for LA traffic after a month of driving the area. I can't think of one thing that I like better in the Leaf - just really impressed with the eGolf.

Had mine for 3 weeks now :)

I seem to be able to do 20 miles of LA freeway using only a quarter of a "tank" - lots of 70 but also some slow spots. Very happy with the range - 56 miles of freeway is not a issue. After a few years of electric car driving however I find myself instinctively drafting behind larger...

Is the real world range really 83 miles?

100 mile highway trips from LA are why we still have a gas burner... 70-75miles highway I expect - and even then you better be drafting behind trucks and SUVs if you are traveling over the speed limit.

Just had a test drive of e-golf

The motor is super quiet - and also very quiet at highway speeds - vw did a great job. What does take some getting used to is the recorded "soundtrack" used to alert pedestrians at low speeds - more of a rumble than the leaf's high pitched whine. Also it definitely has significantly more range...
