'Health' error on Car-net but NOT in car ??

I'm getting this as well. The iPhone app tells me to check the VHR, but I don't subscribe to full car-net so I cannot check anything. If I click the VHR page, it is greyed out however in the background you can read that it is saying the check engine light is up and it is due to a "misfire"...

    Car-Net update on 6/2/17

My car "helpfully" told me the doors were unlocked 10 minutes in to my journey, while I was still driving. It also messages me every couple days telling me there is a problem and to review the VHR ("My health report shows that I may need some attention. Check the latest VHR for more details.")...

Monster Mats or other aftermarket mats for MK7 will not fit.

I have a set and can confirm that they fit. They are fairly shallow compared to the usual US-style deep grove winter mats. I'm expecting that I'll need to drain them once in a while with a towel.

    "Warning: Electrical System Malfunction"

Was the list more-or-less this: Driver Assistance Systems Hill Hold Electric System Hybrid Components Tires and Brakes Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) I ask because this is the set of parts that get an error when you do a 12v battery disconnect on the...

    Recent regressions in Car-Net functionality

Also, is there any way to lock the car in the new Carnet?

    Jack & Spare ?

I had a flat a few weeks ago and it was a pain to go get a spare tire from home and order a replacement online. I decided to buy a spare w/ jack kit from eBay, which was pretty reasonable. Just make sure it has the correct bolt pattern and offset. The compact spare acceptably under the trunk...

    Why reverse rear windshield wiper?

Are you sure that's what it does? I thought it made the rear wiper run once when you put the car in reverse while the front rain sensor is wet.

    Converting factory charger to L2

Looks like they used a line powered relay. I'm ordering a 230V coil version and will post an update when it arrives.

    Converting factory charger to L2

Bad news. It worked for about an hour and then quit with an internal fault. Looks like I have some troubleshooting to do.

    Converting factory charger to L2

The down side would be accidentally bumping that switch and frying something. There are people that have built a fairly simple circuit for auto-switching the Nissan Leaf/Panasonic unit. Look here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#nema-connectors/=xvlsvh They aren't cheap, but they'll do the job...

    Converting factory charger to L2

Any particular reason why? The Leaf folks have been doing this for years to their Panasonic EVSEs. There are even companies you can pay to do it to your charger. The in-car charger, the J1772 plug, relay, optoisolators, cabling, etc are all rated for 240V and this doesn't change the charge...

    Converting factory charger to L2

Hold off on this mod. Looks like there is an issue that makes it fail after about an hour. The forum appears to unhelpfully be adding advertisements to this post... There are no useful links in this post. I picked up a spare factory Delphi charger from eBay for pretty cheap with the hope of...

    CD Player Question

It seems to work alright on my player. Navigating between folders is a little cumbersome, but doable.

    CD Player Question

Any reason you can't copy your CDs to an SD card? I have a 64GB SD card in mine that can hold a whole pile worth of CDs.

    100 Mile Club

Just made my first 100 mile drive. Not much left in the battery, but not bad for almost entirely freeway driving.

    Yet another delayed charge question

To limit changing to some percentage, you need to set both a "minimum change level" of 70% and a delayed change location with a 70% max. Even if the delayed charging doesn't actually work for your particular car, it will still charge to 70% and stop. If you decide you want a full charge, just...

    Be careful with extension cords

I posted this in another thread about extension cords, but always check a new cord when doing EV charging. Use your hand to feel near every connection a few times over the first hour or two. It is ok for it to get warm to the touch but not hot. A lot of extension cords have very cheap ends...

Locking car during charge trips circuit breaker

This sounds pretty unusual. I also have a 40A breaker on a 30A charger and have never had any issues with tripping. By chance, does your circuit breaker have an RCD/GFCI test button on it?

    e-golf charging ending prematurely.

The test to see if it is an issue with the scheduled charging or programmed charge limit is to do connect the charger and then immediately hit the top "immediate charge" button. That will override the saved settings and charge to 100%.
