I like EVgo - one of the few currently offering DC fast charging. BUT my 2015 eGolf is getting a 'connection error' code at most of their newer local fast-chargers (Long Beach, 90815) I had VW do a $1200 ECM replacement, and Nada. (I was also subsequently 'dis-owned' by the dealer, but hey : )

Sorry to hear that. I find EVgo to be very unreliable for n NorCal. Please try Electrify America or Chargepoint DCFCs and see if they work for your car b

Thanks. So yes, it's probably a 'brand specific' thing with EVgo chargers. The new ones are still not communicating with my eGolf. And it's made me afraid to stretch my short leash : )

I’m having issues with public chargers not connecting to my eGolf. Evgo seems to consistently not work on my 2015 model particularly the ones that support 2 cars charging at once. ChargePoint always works but there are fewer and fewer around. Electrify America is hit or miss. Dealer says there is nothing wrong and they say they have no problem getting it to connect. Anyone else having this issue?

I have read the 2015 e-Golf has some connectivity issues due to car programming. Nothing can be done. VW has no plans to reprogram cars. Sorry.

Big Mahalo, And why couldn't the dealer have mentioned that? EVgo has been fairly dependable, and one of the few with DC Level 3 chargers (except all the new ones don't want to connect) Otherwise, LOVE this car.

EVgo can change its software, though. Have you complained to EVgo?

I have, and EVgo kicks it back to VW, harrumph.
Oh well. I had the same issue with VW and Apple when I complained that Apple Maps thinks my car uses gasoline.

I think in both cases it is up to VW to update the software, and in both cases VW is refusing.

Sorry!

Have owned 2019 eGolf SEL since new with only level 2 charging -- running great - battery manual essentially says fast charging will void warranty. The eGolf is a super city car. IMO it is not suited to going long distance.

It would be interesting to see if his car charges at EA or Chargepoint as they may have implemented special software to be compatible with non-standard VW code.

2016 here south bay area ca charged at evgo once in campbell the first time trying a few months ago now everytime here and pleasonton connecrtion issue. chargepoint and elctrify ok also blink works very frustraing when your out and cant get issue or serive for the issue. I had my horn honk when attempting at evgo like it was locking or something.

EVgo is replacing a lot of the "handles" (According to Plugshare) at a good percentage of charing stations here in West Los Angeles (so we're out a ton of chargers), but I'd be interested in seeing if they work with the new handles on my 2016 eGolf SE. I've had very minimal issues with EVgo in the past & prefer them to EA or ChargePoint.

You may be waiting a long time. For example, it has been two years since EVgo stations in Half Moon Bay broke and they are still broken, with lots of promises to repair ASAP. That is why I avoid EVgo whenever possible.

Charge on!
