Can the software be set up not to lock charging plug?

Having to press unlock on my remote in order to remove the charge connector from my unlocked car in my garage makes me really annoyed. Can this locking behavior be changed easily ?

I don't think so. The OP of this thread said this in the BRICK YOUR CAR thread.

Car back from service again... Update TSB 2040470 re-installed and issue with car being stuck in charge mode appears to be gone. UNFORTUNATELY I am no longer able to remove the charging connector without having to dig the key out of my pocket and press unlock thereby defeating the purpose of having a keyless entry. How I wish someone from VW would pay attention to what the Teslas, Nissans and Fords can do. I'm disappointed and tiered of not being heard.

This post said it can be unlocked w/o key as long as car is unlocked

Yes, but the same person said they re-applied the TSB to fix the "Unable to Start, Remove Charging Plug" problem. After that, it returned to the original locking behavior.
Thank you, I was about to say that. So, the following refers to original behavior.

If your car is unlocked, but the 30 seconds has elapsed, you can free the plug by locking and then unlocking the doors by handle touch. Usually easier to just use the remote, but it works.

In the dire case that you don't have your key, but need to free the plug, you could use Car-Net to unlock the doors, and I'd imagine that would unlock the plug. God forbid you're not carrying your cell-phone, or don't have an internet connection from it.

Unfortunately, the partial unlock done by accessing the rear hatch doesn't affect the charge lock.

If the doors are unlocked but you don't have the key, you can also push one of the unlock buttons on the front doors.
