    Heathed windshield at night

$782 dollars including labor. I had to have mine replaced before lease turn in and there are no aftermarket solutions due to the defroster lines. I shopped around endlessly. Consider that without the defroster lines, the replacement would have been less than half that price. They're both...

DO NOT GET UPDATE TSB 2040470- IT WILL BRICK YOUR CAR!!!!!!!

I got the update and no issues here except one; creating and deleting a new charging location in the app causes a "rejected error". The action is successful, but I have to exit and restart the app for the change to show up. I immediately unplugged the EVSE, started and drove the car without...

    Car-net and delayed charging

All eGolfs in the US have those two buttons from the first car and on. There is an addendum that was added to the manual packet that is provided from the dealer which covers its function.

    VW Car-Net Owner Satisfaction Survey

Same here. Did it yesterday. If someone is shocked at the responses, then they failed to stay in the loop with their customer service dept.

    CA - plate/sticker delivery time?

Yes, check was cashed before I got my stickers.

    auf wiedersehen

So their confidence that it was the EVSE and not the car didn't pan out for them? That's now two buybacks mentioned on this forum. I wonder if their strategy is the buyback instead of fixing the issue.

    Car-net and delayed charging

My misunderstanding. i thought that you were saying that you are paying a higher rate because you couldn't charge off-peak. Sounds like Con Ed wants to charge customers for Smart Meters. Over here, So Cal Edison preferred to switch everyone onto smart meters.

    Car-net and delayed charging

TOU or Time of use is the type of plan that you are on. Rates vary depending on what time of day it is.

    Car-net and delayed charging

Is SCE your utility provider? The new TOU rates that they are converting us all over to now has super off peak rates from 10pm to 8am. Since the rate now starts at 10pm at least I can start charging manually before I go to sleep. It's enough to give me a workaround to this frustrating Carnet...

Car shuts off when I exit

Sorry, I misunderstood. Is it that after driving, you need to leave the car for a few minutes as you step away from the car? Leaving the key in the car has worked for me. Even after an hour it was still on. I was using the car to light a jobsite one time and left the key on the center console...

Car shuts off when I exit

Why not use the Car-net climate control to warm up the car in the morning? The climate control part of the app/service has worked reliably for me. As far as the car shutting itself off, all cars that I've driven that have the proximity key shut themselves off when a driver exits the car with...

    "Action Rejected"

After calling Carnet via the in car button, I was transferred to their customer support. They were polite and tried to assist, but made no difference in fixing anything. I mentioned the frequent "Action Rejected" error message plus the unreliable delay of charging. I was driving to work when I...

12 Volt Starter Battery, what it's for

Thanks for the information. I didn't realize that most EV's still rely on a 12v battery for systems. Based on what I've read on the Leaf forum, it seems that people are already using their 12v battery circuit to power inverters. Looks like I've found an additional source of emergency power for...

    How is the range calculated

I've leased it also, since it gives me the option to opt out at 3 years. I may or may not choose to buy out the lease. I've leased cars in the past where the leasing company decided that they misjudged residual values and offered a significantly lower purchase price than what was on contract. If...

12 Volt Starter Battery, what it's for

Anyone heard of why there is a standard automotive 12v battery under the hood? It seems to go to the common relay/fuse box so I'm thinking that it provides power to the accessories and the car's computers. I'm assuming that while the car is on, the system pulls power from the EV battery to...

$199 annual fee to do delayed charging

There are two separate Car-Net trial plans that is provided with the new car that independent of each other. The Car-Net services comes with a free trial and costs $199 per year. This one is independent from ability to control charge on the eGolf. This gives you the 911 service and live operator...

    How is the range calculated

Who said anything about killing the battery? Scientifically they correlate level of charge cycles with battery life. If you need the range that it would be foolish to not to charge it full. Some people don't drive that far or can charge at work. Some people want their $10k+ batteries to last...

    How is the range calculated

I only know what I know based off of whitepapers and don't have firsthand knowledge. From what I've read, 40-60% of total battery capacity is the idea range to maximize battery life. Cycling above 80%, there is a pronounced loss in number of charging cycles. This is likely subject to change as...

    How is the range calculated

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that VW had already reduced the max charge to save battery life. I've on weekends reduced charge to 80% to do the same, but this is redundant. As far as how I'm getting the higher mile/kw. I do use the climate departure feature to warm the car up off of the...

    Cooling fan

Yes, it's the heat pump running that causes that fan to turn on so that the external coil can absorb ambient heat. If you turn off your climate control, the fan in the engine compartment should not turn on.
