Annual service - is this absolutely required by VW Leasing?

My eGolf started flashing "Inspect Now", this is the beginning of the third year I have the eGolf 2016.
Does VW Leasing require this annual maintenance?

I paid to do the second annual service on ours, but I also had a steering wheel squeak that was fixed under warranty at the same time. The first annual service on the 2015 was included at no charge.
