Car-net revival?

Just got a 2019 SE and had it checked out by a dealer. Was told that VW is working on a replacement/fix for the 3G component. No ETA. Find it hard to believe, though. Anyone heard similar rumors?

They posted a page to check if your VIN is part of the solution they’re developing but it looks like the egolf isn’t part of it.
