Some good threads on charge times on the forum se vs sel. I just noticed on the eGolf sticker for my 2016 se it states 3.7 hours at 240v, is this correct?

My understanding was on se with 3.2 kW charger
1 level 1 charger 22 hours
2. Level 2 8 hours

I think you are misreading 3.7kwh charging capability, not 3.7 hours to charge the battery

It definitely says hours and not KWH

I believe that with a 3.6kw/hr charger pack on a 2016 SE, you are for certain looking at 6 to 8 hours to charge fully... 15 amps at public 208V, usually around 200V or less, is 3 kw/hr. That's good for 10 to 15 miles of added range per hour of charging, 8 to 9 hours. If you charge at home or at an RV park of find a location that has residential 240V instead of commercial 208V, you can knock off about 17 to 18% from the charge time. Yes, 240V is really that much faster, I get 244 to 245V at the outlet at home.

For home use a Clipper Creek LCS -20 15 amp 3.6 kwh at 240V and a 20 amp outlet, like a dryer unit, would be perfect.

You can copy and paste this in your browser and indeed it does say charge time 3.7 hours. That is false advertising, if indeed it is a sticker off a 2016 SE and not a 2016 SEL.

Unfortunately there is no way to attach a photo on this forum, but if you check your car sticker it says 3.7 hours and not kWh at 240 v

You have to host the image somewhere online. I use Photobucket just for this purpose.

This is a portion of the window sticker from my 2015 e-Golf LE. You can see that it clearly states the on-board charger power of 7.2kW. This really means 30 amps at a nominal 240 volts AC. If the voltage is lower, it will still pull up to 30 amps, but it will charge the battery slower. The 2016 SE should draw 15 amps max.

The image was embedded with the following tags, with the curly braces actually square braces. I use the "Direct" share link in Photobucket.

I bought egolf SE the fact is it does say 3.7 hours and not kWh. 100% sure on this. I'm speaking about 2016 egolf SE. So you think this is false advertising?

Our 2016 SE had 18 miles estimated when we plugged in and charged to full in about 6.5 hours, adding 20kWh at a L2 Chargepoint station. (Assuming 5m/kWh, if it probably had 3+kWh usable left)

I went 60 miles today on my 2016 SE base model here on San Diego freeways. Crazy thing is I started with 90 miles of range, and ended the day with 43 miles of range after going 60 miles. I stayed in Regen 1, and used the B brake whenever stopping in traffic. It was fun to see the range extending. I'm charging with a 110v and it says it will be done in 12 hours. So 7 PM, to 7 AM works for my commute.

There was a discussion in this thread: http://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=700&start=41.

Basically, the 2016 SE sticker is wrong.

The base model 2016 SE has a 3.6kW on-board charger with which a full Level 2 charge takes about 7 hours.
If you paid extra for the DC Fast Charge option, or if you bought an 2016 SEL, or if you have either 2015 model, you'd get a 7.2kW on-board charger which will take about 3.5 hours to fully charge at Level 2.
