Traded in 2016 SE, say hello to 2019 SEL

Ours is a blue SEL, but there seem to be quite a few like it in SC...

    eGolf feels....wobbly?

That seems to be a common complaint with many modern German cars that use electrical power assist instead of hydraulic. Going back and forth between my antique Audi quattros, the 20 year old BMW 540i wagon, and the eGolf I do notice it, but don't find it to be that bothersome most of the time...

    eGolf feels....wobbly?

Can't say I noticed such a thing in our 2015 SEL over the years.

Question: Used 2015 SEL for sale, HV battery replaced twice

AFAIK, battery replacement is really uncommon on these cars (so far). There could be an underlying reason (climate combined with excessive DCFC charging perhaps?). Our 2015 SEL is at 54k miles and gets about the same range as it did when we bought it with 32k miles (~80-100 miles on a charge...

Traded in 2016 SE, say hello to 2019 SEL

Congrats! Always nice to see another eGolf in SC (though I realize it was a swap old for now). Looks like you made a good deal all things considered.

    Buying a 2016 e-Golf SE

What is the elevation change over that 13 miles? (Makes a huge difference.) I can't say from experience because we don't have temps that low or a need for snows on the CA coast, but you will take a mileage hit from both the tires and the cold weather. Unless there is a massive grade <30 miles...

    40k Service, poor dealership results

Not likely suspension. Lack of rotation will cause cupping so that is the most likely cause. If you have rear suspension issues you would likely hear abnormal noises and the car would not track as well as you describe. I think with new tires you should be okay (but they should be rotated every...

Driving in B mode often can cause issues?

Yes, I am 100% certain based on extensive enthusiast driving experience that spans more than 4 decades, a motorsports journalist for nearly 2 decades, a DIY mechanic for more than 4 decades who has owned and maintained more than 50 vehicles and driven countless more. Any experienced driver can...

Driving in B mode often can cause issues?

I most certainly can feel the difference between regen only and friction but VW does a very good job at blending the two. If you lightly touch the brake pedal it is regen only. The feel is in the pedal itself (you feel hydraulic pressure in your foot). In normal driving almost all braking is...

Driving in B mode often can cause issues?

Wait, what?! You were canyon carving in your eGolf?! I'm guessing that wasn't a 6mi/kWh day? :D

No 2020 e-Golf after all (original press kit updated on 10/29/19)

I wonder if Taycans and e-trons count? Not that Porsche and Audi will sell as many of these as VW would eGolfs most likely (though there are a lot of e-trons now on dealer lots). Shure would be nice if VW did an about face on the ID.3 for the US market.

    Maintenance

No idea what a 20k service entails (probably not much). Here are the things that probably should be done, especially if never done before: Brake fluid flush (should be every two years on most cars and is well within the capability of most home mechanics) Cabin Air Filter (super easy DIY) Top up...

    SPARE TIRE NOT!

According to Tire Rack there actually is a "VW version" of the Ecopia EP422 Plus, they sell both. The differences appear to be mostly max pressure (51psi for the VW version vs 44psi for the non-VW version), lower treadwear rating for the VW version (540 vs. 640) despite same starting tread...

Driving in B mode often can cause issues?

We don't use B Mode. I had all four wheels off for the first time in our ownership last Saturday. ~51k miles. The brakes (pads and rotors) looked like as if I just installed them, not over 50k miles old. No glazing or rust (and I live near the ocean), but hardly any noticeable wear either. I can...

    GTA Service recommendations

Add a brake fluid flush every 2 years, but that doesn't need to be done by a VW dealer and can by done at home if one is comfortable with DIY car maintenance. Not sure what else "service" on an eGolf entails.
