Solar PV - Save Money & Shrink Carbon Footprint

We have been driving EV's for 3 1/2 years, and we are now using a heat pump for most of heating our house, as well. We got a solar PV system installed yesterday, and it should soon be generating a large amount electricity, to offset our use. The system is Sunpower 327 watt panels (about 20%...

    Direct Heating Windshield Defroster

This is an excellent feature, that is unique to the e-Golf, as far as I know. Ford and others had these way back in the 1970's and 1980's, but now it is only on the e-Golf. We just got a 2017 SE, replacing a 2015 SEL - and the new car's defroster is much better. It melts frost and ice much...

    e-Golf SE Headlight Bulb Type

I am trying to find out the type of halogen headlight bulbs are in the 2017 e-Golf SE - I think they are H7? Are all four the same bulbs?

    End of Lease Inspection

Tomorrow we will be getting the end of lease inspection (done by SGS), and I went through this process with our LEAF a couple of months ago. So, I know generally what to expect. Have any of you done this, and care to mention specifics, please?

    Touchscreen in the Cold

We have a 2015 SEL, and the touchscreen gets problematic as the temperature gets colder. Below the low 20's it doesn't work, effectively. It is ironic that the direct heating defroster can only be turned on via the touchscreen. Is the newer touchscreen any better?

No Bluetooth Audio with SD Card?

Hi, We use an SD card to play MP3's on the stereo, and this seems to prevent any sound from a phone app from playing at all. I use Waze, and sometimes Google Maps, and they work when I have the radio on, but not when playing music from the SD card. What's up with that? Phone calls do work, though.

    Headlight Wiring Harness Issue

We have a 2015 e-Golf SEL, and we have solved a problem with the headlights - or more specifically with the vertical angle control on the LED headlights. The headlight had a adjustment range error, and the lights are aimed down. The angle sensor of the car (which controls this) is in the back of...

    Cold Stops Touchscreen From Working

During the recent cold snaps here in New England, we have found that the touchscreen either only works for about 2 touches, or if it is even lower temperature, it stops working altogether. This is (another) problematic issue, that may very well nix our option to buy the car at the end of our...

    Low(er) Rolling Resistance Tires

Because I also drive a Leaf S with its Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 tires, I know that the stock Continental tires on the e-Golf are only fair-to-middlin' in rolling resistance. I am really interested to hear about your experience with other tires on the e-Golf. Ideally, I would like to use the...

    100 Mile Club

I finally made a range over 100 miles - 110 miles to be exact! It took a 24.2kWh charge, so the actual wall-to-wheel efficiency was 220Wh/mile or ~4.54 miles/kWh or 153.2MPGe. I recently also had a 96 mile drive, with nearly as good efficiency. Warmer weather is coming, so the range will...

    12V Outlets Issue

Hello, The front and rear 12V outlets have apparently stopped working, so I suspect a fuse has blown. Does anybody know which fuse this would be? We needed to use the air pump (slow leaking tire plug, that needs to be replaced with a mushroom plug) and it simply does not work, plugged into...

New "Limited Edition" e-Golf - Lower Cost

VW will be selling a "Limited Edition" edition that will cost $2,000 less, and leased for $70/month less. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1097092_2015-volkswagen-e-golf-electric-car-gets-less-expensive-trim-level

    Suggestions to VW

I have a couple of things that I would change with the e-Golf: It has no visible way to tell from outside the car when it is done charging. The Leaf has three blue lights at the base of the windshield, that do this. There is an app for your phone to do this, and more - but it has a 6 month...

    Visible charging indicator

I am missing the three lights on the dash of the Leaf, that indicate the state of charge, that can be seen from a distance. I don't want to use Car-Net, or whatever it is called. Is there any other way to see if the charge is finished? Is it only the little green light in the charging door?
