I went to the National Drive Electric Week event at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA today. They had an area where you could test drive cars provided by DGDG, a local dealer group. Capitol Volkswagen is one of those DGDG dealers. They brought a new 2017 e-Golf SEL in Urano Gray. I did not drive it.

As you may have read elsewhere, the 2017 lineup has changed from SE and SEL (2016) to SE, LE, SEL. The LE adds the V-Tex Leatherette upholstery and the Park Pilot sensors. It is not obvious to me from the window sticker what this SEL has above the LE. Maybe it has Navigation and the SE and LE do not? LED Headlights? The sticker makes no mention of a heat pump, but the SEL surely has it.
Prior announcements stated that the 7.2kW on-board charger and multi-function steering wheel are standard across the board. Both excellent decisions if you ask me. Omitting cruise control, a software feature on an EV, simply because you don't have buttons on the cheap steering wheel was ridiculous on the 2015 LE and 2016 SE. To add insult to injury, the 2015 Owner's Manual showed stalks with cruise control buttons that didn't exist on the car.
One thing that surprised me is that the SEL does not have the 9.2" Discover Pro infotainment screen that is available on the 2017 e-Golf in other markets like Europe and Canada. It makes do with the "Discover Media 8" Touchscreen Navigation System". The 8" screen is standard on SE and LE also, but those may not have built-in navigation. If that's the case, you would have to use Android Auto or Car Play to get navigation on those, like the 2016 SE. The fully flush face of the new screen is nice though.
Cropped photo from the VW Media site showing the optional Digital Cockpit and new infotainment screen.
