Anyone know what the current deals are like?

I've being told the MF/RV for 36/10 is .00065 & 37%. There's the $7500 rebate, plus $3500 in incentives.

Current ads for a SEL (36/7.5) is

$206/month @ $3k down.
or
$299/month @ $0 down which is essentially the same.

All excluding tax, licence, reg, etc.

TTL is $2200 in CA. So you are $299 with $2200 down OTD basically?

I see
http://www.vwhayward.com/Special/new/2016-Volkswagen-e_Golf-4dr_HB_SE-ONLY_$49/m_Lease_e_Golf_SE-Hayward-CA/73486370
Which is $155 /month with $5500 down OTD
Your deal is $12700 with 10k and this one is $10900 with 7.5k ...the hayward deal is slightly better overall, I would haggle more on the price.

This site helped me a lot when I was shopping:

Scroll down to the green boxes to see the best current deals in your area.

That's very handy. As I've said many times, in California it all boils down to getting the monthly average under $200/month on an SE and $300/month on an SEL.

And wow, great deals on the 500e.

The standard deals are already this. Would it be ambitious to aim for sub 200/mo on SEL?

How did you get to 5500 down? What is "OTD"?

OTD = Out the Door

The Hayward deal is $2400 + TTL, TTL in CA is about $2200 = $4600. That lease is for 7500 yours is 10k. So that's 2500miles per year = 7500. 7500 x .15 a mile = $1125
So it's $5725. I rounded it to $5500 for ease.

$2400 + TTL
You sure love your acronyms. What's that one?
TTL = Tax , Title , License (+ other miscellaneous charges hidden inside of 'Title').

OTD and TTL are standard Three Letter Acronyms (TLA another acronym..yikes) used in the industry when describing pricing especially of cars. (Since most things don't have Title or License)
Dealers use these especially TTL to make you think you are paying less for a car and Gotcha! Another $2000 charge you didn't know.

So what would you buy a car that is
$20,000 + TTL
Or a car that is $21,500 OTD?

OTD is better since it is only $1500 more and on a $20,000 car TTL is usually 10-11% ($2000-$2200)

When I was negotiating my 2016SE they offered me $199 month + TTL
I got them to $206 month OTD

As you can see $206 OTD is a much better than $199 month + $2200 (TTL) because $2200 is more than an additional $60/month in payments.

Not sure if this is going to help you, but at least gives you info. I recently bought the SE w/ Fast Charge for a sales price of $24,747 in MD.

In the end, I got a 3/15,000 lease for $186+TTL. Had to only pay the first monthly payment.

The acquisition fee is usually quite significant, yet the one everyone forgets to mention. Here was the breakdown of drive-off fees for mine:

Taxes: $794
Acquisition fee: $625
Registration: $234
Doc Fee: $80
First payment: $50

Then there were some smaller ones like title and tags that totaled up to $100 or so.

The one thing that catches people off guard in California is that you have to pay sales tax on all of the Cap Reduction. This includes the way that VW passes through the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit. So, right off the bat, you are adding 7.5%-10% of $7,500 to the TTL amount. That is $562-$750, depending on your city and county sales taxes. Our sales tax rules are such that you pay sales tax as you pay for the car. The only part you don't pay sales tax on is the residual.

Are you paying TTL monthly or in a lump sum? How much was it in the end?

Built it all into my monthly payment. Came out to $262/month.

Taxes: $1,502 (MD taxes on the sale price of the car + dealer processing fee)
Acquisition fee: $625
Registration: $279
Dealer Processing Fee: $300

Wow, when did the leases get so cheap ? I got mine in Jan 2015, and pay 348 a month for 15k a year for 3 years + 2500 down which I got straight back from Ca.

So my local VW dealers are proving harder to deal with than the dealer i got my i3 from!

I'm getting tired of playing the numbers game with them and I just want to say:
"I want my total lease cost to be $10k. I don't care what my monthly/OTD is, I just want to only pay $10k total".

What do you guys think, is this reasonable/doable for an SEL w/ driving assistance? 36 month/10k miles $12k is the max I'm willing to pay, any higher, then I'm going for the Mercedes B250e...

if it's $10k total including taxes fees yada yada, then it's around $277/month total cost.

That should be doable. Also, if you can wait a bit we should be seeing some intersections between VW trying to keep dieselgate customers and holiday promotions.
